OTHER WRITINGS. This module is an ongoing collection of essays on diverse logical and philosophical subjects - notes towards future books, notes de conférences en français, etc.
Free of charge.
The Logician web site is composed of nine modules (or sub-sites), comprising over 270 web pages. In most cases, a module corresponds to a published book and a web page to a chapter thereof. This adds up to over 1,500 A4-sized pages of text, tables and illustrations.
The Logician houses large and complicated treatises, which attempt to answer certain ages-old philosophical questions in novel ways. They cannot be skimmed over casually, but require dedicated, attentive study over a long period of time. In order to follow their courses, the visitor is advised to flag this site, i.e. add to favorites, right now.
These books each took several years - thousands of hours - to develop and write, as their subject matters demanded; so do not expect to absorb them in a few minutes by reading a sentence here and a chapter there. The most important chapters are not placed first or highlighted, but each subject is developed gradually and sequentially so that an intent student is sure to understand and profit.
Study recommendations: Note that each book has an Abstract and a Table of Contents – look through these first, to get an overall picture. To gather momentum, read at least one chapter a week; but, to give yourself time to reflect, do not read more than one chapter a day. Always read the footnotes, they are intended as integral parts of the text.
Other writings by the same author will be added to this site by and by, large and smaller works and accumulated notes on various topics.
The author of the works posted in The Logician is Avi Sion, Ph.D. (Philosophy). He lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
"Needless to say, as is natural for any thinker, my opinions and positions have evolved in many respects over the years. Nevertheless, each work is based on the findings of its predecessors. Repetitions are avoided as much as possible, though cross-references are often given to help readers navigate."

Readers are welcome to make personal copies of the pages they visit on this site, whether by printing to a file or on paper. This is particularly true of Future Logic, The Logic of Causation, Buddhist Illogic, Phenomenology, Volition and Allied Causal Concepts, Ruminations, and Meditations, which have been published in book form by the author only .
With regard to Judaic Logic, which has been published by Editions Slatkine, Geneva, it is recommended that interested readers order the book from the publishers directly, through the Internet, or indirectly, through a bookshop. (Note that it is cheaper for you to buy the Slatkine hardbound edition, than to print out its 262 A4 pages.)

Navigation:
Good reading! If you have the courage and you persevere, you will surely find it well worth the effort. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step"...
You can travel from any module to all the others, by clicking on the appropriate hyperlink in the top left frame - the The Logician corner. (If you are using Internet Explorer 7 or a similar browser, you may prefer to use CTL-click, rather than simply click, so as to create new tabs on your current window rather than new windows.)
The frame in the bottom left corner allows you to scroll to and click onto the chapter of interest to you, within the module you are on. (Alternatively, first click onto the table of contents, and choose the chapter there.)
If you click on a chapter name in the scroll (or in the table of contents), the corresponding webpage will appear in the main frame. However, it is a peculiarity of 'frames' that in such case you will not see the specific file name of that page displayed. So if you want to send a link to that precise page to a friend, without the frame, and with the file name visible, you must use SHIFT-click (for a new window) or CTL-click (for a new tab - not available in IE6).
If you are looking for a specific term or phrase anywhere in this website or any of its modules, use the Search facility. Access to this facility is always possible, through hyperlinks in the left side of every module (i.e. in the The Logician corner and in the chapter scroll). Note that you can apply your search to the whole site, or limit it to specifically one of the books.
You can also use the Edit / Find facility in your browser to look for words or phrases in the web page you are on.
Note: This website was developed using Microsoft FrontPage software. It functions best with Microsoft Internet Explorer and most similar software, but some other browsers may be not perfectly compatible.
